Principal Update 2021 Term 3 Week 2
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”
— Psalm 133:1
Welcome back to Term 3
Welcome back from the holiday break. I trust that you and your families had some time to recharge the batteries. I have filled this week’s newsletter with some exciting announcements.
Congratulations to our new 2021/2022 student leaders
I would like to extend a public congratulations to the new student leaders for 2021/2022. I am looking forward to working with this new group. You can read more about this in the Secondary article of this newsletter. Thank you to our outgoing school leaders as they have been excellent role models for the school.

Career Days and Taster Courses
Congratulations to all staff involved in the recent Careers Education days and HSC Taster Courses. A particular thank you goes to Gina Driscoll, our Career and Pathways Coach, and our guest speakers who had to quickly change from face-to-face to zoom. I know our Year 10 students got a lot out of these sessions as well as the other events that occurred in the week. Thank you also to the senior teachers and to Mr Verbruggen for their efforts and organisation in developing the Taster Courses for our year 10s as part of their orientation to year 11.
COVID-19 Safe Activities
The college is continuing to remain vigilant during this COVID-19 period and each of our school events has been modified to reflect new level 2 COVID-Safe risk assessments and plans. We are able to continue with local excursions following the public restrictions and can also compete in sporting events with venue or competition restrictions. These restrictions differ depending on if it is defined as community sport (club sports on weekends) or school sport during the regular week.
It is essential however that all parents continue to support our college strategies regarding students remaining at home if unwell and collecting them quickly if symptoms present at school, and continuing to be patient with the school about some of the changes to our signature events.
Seen Ya’s On Show
I had the pleasure of witnessing the works of our Seen Ya’s On Show exhibition yesterday, where we showcase the major works of our Year 12 students. And this year is an exceptional collection of art and design, performance and critical thinking. We are working on a ‘show-reel’ to share with you as soon as possible, so that you too can witness the amazing works of our very talented student body.
Garra-Garraji Dance Studio
The Garra-Garraji Dance Studio is officially open to students, with classes from K - 12 accessing the new studio space already this term. We are excited to offer this space for our current students as we continue to deliver performance opportunities and showcase talent through our curriculum offerings and extra curricular opportunities.
Initial feedback from students has been resoundingly positive. Here’s a few photos of the space, and we look forward to sharing more imagery and videography with you shortly.
