You are invited – and tell your friends! Come and experience the BDC difference. Bishop Druitt College is opening its doors to the community on Wednesday 22 May between 9:00am and 6:30pm for its Open Day.

Tours will be available at various times during the day run by either the Principal, staff leaders or student leaders, so call and book a tour (02 6651 5644) today or you can inquire if there are any spaces on the day via the front office.

There will be many different opportunities to visit our K-12 classrooms and visitors are invited to sit in, interact and/or participate in lessons ranging from science, technology, TAS, hospitality, construction, mathematics, English, languages, PDHPE, visual art and a gallery exhibition, history, music, drama and more. We will be showcasing displays for Walker Learning, STEAM, mathematics, literacy, plus opportunities to chat to a teacher.

The Kindy Spotlight and Art Show are happening between 5:00pm – 6:30pm. There will be a BBQ and barista coffee available, as well as an eisteddfod dance performance in the Green Room. Also, the ART SHOW, which is a travelling art show of student works, will be on display in the Jacaranda Room. As visiting children walk around the school they might come across some beautifully painted rocks that BDC students have created as gifts for our guests. Here are our top tips for getting the most out of your BDC Open Day experience:

Tip 1: Ask your tour guides as many questions as you can, as they are there to answer your questions and help you as much as possible.

Tip 2: Bring your children to the Open Day. If they are considering school options, it is great for them to see the school for themselves.

Tip 3: Ask the teachers questions. When you are having a sneak peek of classrooms, feel free to ask questions, as this will give you a great insight into the school.

Tip 4: Visit the school more than once. Returning for the evening activities will allow you to see more aspects of the school and gain an even better feel for our environment.

Tip 5: Sit in on a classroom. Sitting in on a classroom will give you and your children a great idea of what student life might be like, as well as allow you to see teachers in action and even participate in a lesson.

Visiting parents might want to see the: quality of learning and teaching, how the school addresses important issues and manages student safety and wellbeing. BDC has a fantastic pastoral program and excellent personalised learning opportunities, we also value emotional and social life to be as important as the academic factors.
