The Bishop Druitt College year 6 students celebrated their graduation on 2 December at Pacific Bay Resort.
This milestone event, attended by more than 200 students, families and staff, is an opportunity for students to celebrate how far they have come in seven years of primary school, and the new beginnings that lie ahead of them as they enter secondary school.
“It’s been quite the ride for these students,” said Mr Richard Smith, Assistant Principal (Head of Primary) at Bishop Druitt College. “They’ve endured interruptions to their schooling, and their lives as a result of bushfires, floods, hail storms, and of course COVID.
“ But throughout this tumultuous few years, our students have shown resilience, determination, and a willingness to support their fellow students, and their community. We are very proud of this cohort of students.”
Students were celebrated with a formal graduation ceremony, and danced the night away with their friends - some new, some long standing, and with new friendships on the horizon as they welcome new students to BDC year 7 in 2022.
Students at BDC will finish their school year next week, wrapping up the year with a BDC favourite, EYE Week. A chance to celebrate everyone’s strengths and creativity. The Christmas holidays will be a well deserved break over summer with families, and a time to reflect on schooling to date, and exciting times ahead.
