Newcastle and Sydney Universities Excursion

We had the pleasure of taking 18 of our Year 11 students on the inaugural Newcastle and Sydney Universities excursion in which we joined with 9 other schools from the Mid North Coast area. In total we had 100 students visit the University of Newcastle, University of Sydney, Macquarie University and the University of New South Wales. Students were treated to an incredible 3 days of faculty experiences from schools of health, business, laws, science and engineering, as well as being able to meet with student ambassadors and tour each campus. This will assist students in making decisions in deciding on courses and which University feels right for them to attend.

Interview Preparation - Medicine Entry Programs

Last week saw us complete the last session of our UCAT and medical school interview preparation sessions. Our Year 12 students interested in pursuing medicine attended a workshop to prepare for the different styles of medical entrance interviews which the different universities hold. This completed a series of 3 workshops, held for the first time, to assist students to prepare for medical entrance exams and interviews. To further assist our current Year 12 students we will provide practice interviews after the trial HSC exams. Some great feedback has been received by students and we are excited to run these sessions again in 2025.

Macquarie University InRoads Program

At the end of term, eleven Year 11 students have been accepted to attend the Macquarie University InRoads residential program. This is a highly competitive program in which students apply to attend and Macquarie University hosts and covers all costs for regional students to attend and stay on campus for a week. Students will be able to experience a wide range of faculty talks and workshops, Sydney city excursion, living in a residential college and a range of other activities including a formal dinner with faculty staff and university delegates. This is an incredible opportunity for regional schools and it will assist our students in making decisions next year as to university courses and to get a glimpse at what life as a university student is like.
