Bishop Druitt College is proud to announce that three of its dedicated educators—Ben Andrews, James Brown, and Michelle Walker—have been awarded a prestigious World Teachers’ Recognition Award by the Teachers’ Guild of New South Wales.

This honour acknowledges their exceptional commitment to enhancing student learning through their extensive professional knowledge, engaging teaching methods, and strong relationships with both students and staff.

The awards are celebrated by the Teachers’ Guild of NSW at the 2024 World Teachers Celebration, which will take place on Friday, 25 October 2024. The event will serve as a platform to publicly acknowledge the vital contributions of teachers across the educational landscape.

Ben Andrews expressed his gratitude: “Being recognised for my work with students is humbling. I believe fostering a love of learning is the most important thing we can do as educators, and I am honoured to be part of such a supportive community at Bishop Druitt College.”

James Brown added: “This award reflects the collaborative spirit of our staff and students. I am grateful to work alongside such talented colleagues who inspire me daily. Together, we strive to make a positive impact on our students’ lives.”

Michelle Walker said: “Teaching is a passion that drives me to constantly improve and innovate. Forming connections and developing self-belief with students is crucial to their success. This award recognition reinforces my commitment to creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences for my students.”

Simon Doyle, Assistant Principal (Head of Secondary), emphasised the significance of this recognition: “We are incredibly proud of Ben, James, and Michelle. Their dedication to their craft and unwavering support for our students truly embodies the values of Bishop Druitt College. This award is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the collaborative culture we strive to nurture within our school community.”

The acknowledgement of the 2024 Awards for Excellence in Teaching also occurs alongside the Guild Research Awards and Honorary Fellowships, celebrating the remarkable achievements of educators across the state.
