BDC Primary Athletics

Junior Primary

The Junior Primary Athletics carnival was a great success on Friday. All the students were so excited to participate in the novelty events and also run in their age races in the beautiful sunshine. There was a great sense of house spirit with all the children participating in the events in their House colours. Well done to everyone who participated and had a go! We also enjoyed having the Gumbaynggirr Giingana Freedom School come and be a part of our carnival. We look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with them in the future.

Senior Primary

What a glorious day we had for the 2022 athletics carnival. The athletes shone brighter than the sun for the day. Everyone ‘had a go’ and gained valuable house points in their events. The results will be published in Term 3 after I have had a chance to announce them at an assembly.

It was a fantastic day and finished on a high with a house dance-off and the relays.

Thank you to all the staff and parents who helped on the day, you make my job so much easier. A big thank you to the P&F for running the stall and keeping us fed.

Rugby League

Well done to the Under 15 Boys Rugby League team who competed in the Coffs Country Cup last week. The BDC team had some wins, and some losses to sides that were very well drilled and had a LOT of size on their side.

A great day was had with some impressive performances and resilience on display.

Thank you to Jim Hollindale for coaching the team.

NCIS Secondary Football

This was the second go at scheduling the 2022 installment of the NCIS Secondary Football event.

Normally with selection trials being held for U16 Boys & Open Girls (these were done in Term 1 this year) players were able to focus on their team success as they played round-robin matches against schools from Kempsey - Armidale - Tweed Heads.

U15 Girls went through the day winning 2 games and losing one which left them in a three-way tie separated only on goal difference.

The girls came out on top with a superior goal difference to their EAC & LAS rivals.

U16 Boys went through the day undefeated winning their first 4 games quite comfortably and drawing 0-0 in the final match against EAC despite plenty of chances.

Unfortunately, even after scoring 25 and conceding 2 goals all day, the winners were judged to be EAC with a goal difference 1 better than our boys. U16 Boys finishing Runners up in a great effort.

Open Girls won all of their matches despite limited numbers most of the day due to exams or sickness. A few U15's played up over the course of the day and helped the Opens achieve success by finishing in 1st place.

Open Boys went through the day undefeated with many Year 12's able to play in what is their final matches for the college.

Well done to all the players and teams which saw Bishop Druitt return with 3 of the 4 trophies.

Thank you to coaches Mr Andrews, Mr Norberry & Mr Kelleher for their efforts.

NSWCIS Cross Country

BDC had 38 students representing at the NSWCIS Cross country Championships on 8 June at Eastern Creek. Up against some very talented runners our students as part of the NCIS team ran to the best of their ability on the day.

Congratulations to Dan Williams (9) who was the only NCIS runner to medal, Dan collected another gold medal finishing first.
