Musical Ensemble Evening

The Music Ensemble Evening returned after a two year hiatus, with students from Year 1 through to Year 12 involved in a wide variety of ensembles, bands and choirs. Twelve acts shared their talents and the evening was well received by an audience of over 300 people. Thank you to our music tutors, music staff, our Performing Arts Manager Mrs Kate Freeman and our Head of Performing Arts Rebecca Day. A huge thank you to our Friends of Performing Arts for their commitment to our arts community; their work was instrumental in the event's success.

Honours Ensemble Program

In the Term 3 school holidays, six BDC students travelled to Queensland and participated in a four-day Honours Program at the Conservatorium at Griffith University in Brisbane.

During the four days, the students were able to work with internationally recognised conductors, participate in masterclasses with the academic staff and represent the school in a grand finale concert wearing their college uniform.

The students were nominated through the school as our most outstanding young orchestral musicians. They had to complete a nomination form and a video audition to gain entry into the program. BDC was the only school in NSW that had students attend the program.

Congratulations to (left to right)

Amelie Howard (8) -  State Honours Ensemble Program on Bassoon

Camble Scott (9) - Australian Honours Ensemble Program on Clarinet

Julius Taylor (7) - State Honours Ensemble Program on Cello

Marisol Taylor (10) - Australian Honours Ensemble Program on Violin

Olivia Hoare (9) - Australian Honours Ensemble Program on Double Bass

A special mention also to Imogen Daymond (12) who attended the Australian Honours Ensemble Program on Voice. As she is currently doing her HSC examinations she was unable to receive her certificate on assembly.

HSC Finals

Congratulations to our class of 2022 who have now completed their HSC final examinations. This year there were 18 days of testing that started back on 12 October. A huge thank you to our Year 12 teachers, tutors and wellbeing staff who looked after our valedictorians throughout their final year’s journey. I encourage our graduates to stay connected to the college in the future as they are now part of our BDC Alumni family.

New and Departing Families Information

The college has completed the enrolment process for 2023 and is currently working on 2024. To avoid disappointment and waiting lists in select year groups, please advise the school as soon as possible if you are going to withdraw your child at any stage in Term 4 this year. Would you also please encourage families who have younger children that have not yet enrolled to complete their application as soon as possible for 2024 and 2025.

We are currently advising families that are further down on our waiting list to consider our sister school in Grafton, Clarence Valley Anglican School. Those students further down on the BDC waiting list will be able to enrol and commence education at Clarence Valley Anglican School whilst still retaining their spot on the BDC waiting list. Should a place then become available at BDC their enrolment could ‘swap’ to BDC from CVAS.
