A Term of Growth and Community
As we reach the end of a busy and productive Term 1, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support and partnership in ensuring a settled start to the year for all students. This term, we have prioritised strong relationships and fostering a sense of belonging within our school community. It has been wonderful to witness the students thrive in this positive and supportive school environment.
The last few weeks of the term have been filled with exciting learning opportunities and memorable experiences. Our younger students in years 1 and 2 had a fantastic time at the Botanical Gardens, participating in workshops with ‘Scrapboy’ from “dirtgirlworld.” They learned valuable lessons about composting, worm farms, growing their own food, waste, recycling, and sustainable living. A big thank you to the City of Coffs Harbour for this wonderful initiative!
Our Year 6 students embarked on an incredible journey to Canberra, where they explored iconic landmarks such as Mount Ainslie Lookout, Government House, Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, the National Museum of Australia, the National Gallery of Australia, the National Capital Exhibition, the Australian Institute of Sport, Questacon, Old Parliament House, the Museum of Australian Democracy, and the National Electoral Education Centre. We are immensely proud of their outstanding behaviour and the positive impression they made on everyone they encountered. They truly represented BDC beautifully!
Year 1 students beautifully showcased their understanding of geography by inviting parents to participate in their "My Special Place" project. They created insightful posters, sharing their personal connections to significant Australian locations. Parents helped students colour, write and put together their ideas for their poster. It was wonderful to see the students articulate their knowledge and share this with their parents.
We celebrated the dedication of all the girls who competed in the netball cup last week. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and sportsmanship. We would also like to wish our Year 5/6 Competitive team the very best of luck as they travel to the next level at NCIS next week.
We are incredibly proud of all our students' efforts and growth this term, as well as their enthusiasm for learning. We look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming events.
