Performing Arts Awards Evening

Last Thursday evening, the college held its first annual Performing Arts Awards Evening in the Branson Centre. The night was a celebration and recognition of the efforts of our performing arts students across the areas of dance, drama and music and consisted of a range of performances across all three areas and awards.

Thank you to all students and staff who were involved with the event. It was an amazing night and it was wonderful to see the buzz throughout the Branson Centre.

A highlight of the evening was our special guests - BDC Alumni Jay Bainbridge (2008), Teo Ross (2022) and Julia Magri (2018) as well as parent, Chris Joannou. The alumni were very impressed with how much the Performing Arts faculty has grown and were so honoured to be invited back to the college as special guests and award presenters.

Congratulations to all performers and award recipients and to all staff and parents who helped with the event.

Musica Viva - Timmy and the Breakfast Band

Last Wednesday, the college was fortunate enough to have Musica Viva visit present their show Timmy and The Breakfast Band. The show discussed how music can create different emotions and how me react to different music.

The show was highly entertaining and the 3 presenters did a wonderful job. We look forward to another show from Musica Viva in 2024.

Classical Concert

This term, we will also be holding a Classical Concert at St John’s Church from 5:30pm on Friday 17th November. There will be a number of performances ranging from solos to small groups featuring a range of instruments. It is going to be a beautiful showcase of our talented classical musicians and thank you to Ms Sandra Smith for organising.

Primary Performance Choir (Years 4-6) - Shop Hop Tour

Good luck to our Year 4, 5 and 6 students in the Primary Performance Choir who will be doing their annual Shop Hop Tour on Friday. The Choir will be performing at Toormina Gardens (10am), the Park Beach Plaza (11:30) and Coffs Central (1:30pm) if parents were wanting to listen.

All students on the excursion will be required to wear their BDC Performance Uniforms with their hair neat and tidy and will need to bring their food and drink for the day.

Thank you to Mrs Rachel Caesar, Ms Truus Meulenbroeks and Ms Kate Freeman for organising this wonderful opportunity for the students.
