Eisteddfod Results

Congratulations to all of the BDC students who have performed in various sections in the Coffs Harbour Eisteddfod. Some outstanding results with many students being awarded major prizes and championships. Congratulations to all students who entered any of the individual sections.

Our schools sections across Drama, Choir and Instrumental all had strong representation from BDC with some outstanding results overall. All students performed well and should be proud of their performances.

Our junior group was the only competitor, so no prize was awarded

Tim Hardman and Lilian Cruwys performed. They were the only competitors so no prize was awarded

1st place - Piper Reith and Cooper Lane accompanied by Frank Lane

3rd place - Scott Laneway Trio

A special mention to the Secondary Choir, “Elevate, who has been invited back to perform at the Gala Concert. This concert is a showcase of excellence from the Eisteddfod across all disciplines (dance, drama, choir and instrumental) and this is an honour for our students to be invited back to perform. The concert is held at the Jetty Memorial Theatre on Saturday 22nd June from 5:30pm. Tickets are limited and usually sell out quickly.

Good luck to our dance students who are participating in the Eisteddfod on Friday. There are 173 students from K-12 who will be participating. Good luck and thank you to the staff who have prepared the students and will be attending.

Holly Walraven

Congratulations to Holly Walraven (year 2) who took part in Taree Piano Eisteddfod earlier this term. Holly was awarded the following:

1st place- Piano solo pre 1900 8yrs/under
1st place- Piano solo post 1900 8yrs/under
2nd place- Novice piano solo 8yrs/under
2nd place- Restricted piano solo 8yrs/under

Holly was also chosen as the Mid Coast Council Award winner. This award is the adjudicator’s choice for a promising student. Holly also received a McDonald’s encouragement award.

Open Day

Thank you to the Junior Jazz Band, Woodwind Ensemble and soloists who performed for the various tour groups that attended the College on Open Day. The feedback regarding the musical items from both staff and visitors on the day was positive and we thank you for representing the Performing Arts faculty on this important day in the College calendar.

Drama World Options Semester 1

Congratulations to Ms Katie Gudgeon and the students in the Drama World Options Semester 1 course on a successful performance evening last Friday night. The audience was blown away by the talent and amazing performances of the students.

Secondary Assembly Performances

Thank you to all of our performers at Secondary Assembly in the past few weeks. Mia O’Reilly, Freya Eather and Ava Galway in Year 8 presented a dance at the Week 3 Assembly. All three students are in the High Performance Performing Arts Program and the Secondary Dance Academy. The girls choreographed the dance themselves and performed it beautifully.

Tim Hardman (10) and Ella-Grace Chowdhury (11) performed “Falling” by Harry Styles at the Week 4 assembly.
