Hope Choir

On Tuesday 18th March, we had the absolute joy of welcoming The Hope Choir from Uganda to Bishop Druitt College!

This incredible group of young singers (aged 8-14) is traveling around Australia, sharing their voices and raising funds for 100% hOPE — an amazing organisation where 100% of all funds raised goes directly to supporting work in Uganda.

Our Year 3 – 8 students enjoyed their vibrant performance, filled with energy, passion, and hope.

A huge thank you to our Year 11 Entertainment class for managing the lighting and helping to make this event even more spectacular!

We are so grateful to be part of this special journey—safe travels, Hope Choir!

Ash Wednesday

Thank you to Tim Hardman (Year 11) and Adelaide Robinson (Year 9) who performed at the Ash Wednesday service earlier this term.

Orchestra Camp

Thank you to Ms Sandra Smith and Mr Joshua Jeremy for planning and taking the BDC Orchestra on a 2 day camp at Scotts Head.

The two days were a great opportunity for the students to maximise their rehearsal time preparing for upcoming performances and also a chance for the students to bond.

Thank you also to Mr Peter Morgan who attended the camp to work with the Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.

HSC Performances

Our HSC Music students will be performing at Marion Grove over four weekends:

Saturday 12 April

Saturday 14 June

Saturday 26 July

Saturday 23 August

This is a valuable opportunity for our students to gain performance practice with their HSC Major works. Thank you to Mei Wei Lim for booking these dates and organising with the venue.

Welcome back Bonnie

Thank you to Pru Borgert who filled in for teaching Bonnie Nilsson’s piano students for the past 4 weeks whilst Bonnie was in China.

We warmly welcome Bonnie back to the College this week to resume her lessons with her students.

Ms Zara Hawkes

At the end of this term, we sadly say farewell to Ms Zara Hawkes who has been teaching secondary Performing Arts classes. Ms Hawkes took on a role within the faculty in Term 2 2024 when Ms Crismale left the College. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms Hawkes for all of the work that she has done within the faculty for the past 12 months. She has been a large asset and we hope to see her back at the College again in the future. In Term 2, we welcome Mr Alex Fowler to the team. He will be onsite in week 10 of this term as a transition so if you see him around the College, please say hello.

Secondary Assembly

Thank you to Ella-Grace Chowdhury (Year 12) and Olivia Gruber Styles (Year 12) for performing “Sweet Creature” by Harry Styles at the week 7 Secondary Assembly.
