We are very pleased to announce that a very exciting concert is being held here at Bishop Druitt College. On Wednesday, June 19 from 6pm, the Branson Centre at BDC will be transformed into a New Orleans Jazz bar!

This concert will showcase some incredible and fun musical talent from bands, Hip Mama and Titan Sky. Titan Sky is BDC’s very own singer/songwriter Mr Tony Rowely and Hip Mama features BDC’s brass teacher, Ms Georgie Chorley, along with Ollie McGill from The Cat Empire. For those that don’t know, The Cat Empire is a very well known touring band, celebrated as one of the worlds very best festival bands. The Cat Empire deliver a spectacular live show, legendary for making their vast global audience dance. When Georgie and Ollie (Hip Mama) met, they instantly churned out musical magic in the form of cool and fun tunes that are perfect for dancing. This concert will be an amazing night, not to be missed.

“Georgie Chorley had just gotten back from a life-changing trip to New Orleans and the feelings she had from her experiences just couldn’t be put into words, but somehow I knew what she was trying to express. Music can get into your veins, it oozes through your system and all you can do is scream, wave your hands about or sing! So when I met with Georgie for the first time, we got straight to work, putting these intense feelings into music and I have now caught the fever; I haven’t even been to this place that so many people talk about, write about and of course sing about! We are on a journey so exciting, I can’t fully describe. You just have to come and catch our disease.” Ollie McGill, The Cat Empire.

The college will also welcome James Haselwood who has recently been touring with Kasey Chambers and Pete Skelton, a very well known and talented drummer, to the BDC Connections stage.

“I know all of these musicians and am always reminding them if they are ever in town to let me know, so we can showcase their talent here at the college for our community. Tickets are open to the public for $20 and that includes over 2 hours of fun and exciting music as well as 2 platters of food. There will also be a cash bar available on the night stocked with champagne, wine, beer and soft drink. Students are allowed to attend the concert however must be supervised by an adult.

Due to catering purposes, there will be no tickets available on the night. Tickets must be pre-purchased via the Try booking website and ticket sales close June 18 at 7pm.
