NSW Netball Schools Cup - Regional Finals Reports
Primary Report
On Tuesday 7th August, our Primary Year 5/6 netball team competed at the Netball NSW North Coast Regional Finals.
Our girls put in a fantastic performance on the day winning all of their games and the championship. They will now progress to the State Finals in November in Sydney.
We are so proud of our wonderful team who showed incredible composure, courage, and commitment to their role and team to put in a dominant display of netball all day.
Secondary Report
Our Year 9/10 netball team competed at the Netball NSW Cup North Coast Regional Final on the 8 August.
The girls fought valiantly through the day facing some quality opposition. They won all of their pool games but one draw and progressed to the play off for a spot in the grand final. Our team fought hard throughout the game being in a 7 goal deficit at half time to eventually go down by 2. Despite losing we were proud of the fight and heart our team showed.
After this, our team played off for third place which they put in a dominant display winning 10-5.
It was a fantastic team effort all day and the girls represented BDC with pride and outstanding sportsmanship.
NSWCIS Netball Challenge Day
On Monday 19th August, BDC had 12 students represent the college at the CIS Netball Challenge day. Amber Daniels, Capri Goddard, Elicia Oxenbridge, Sarah Fenton, Sacrlette Laing and Tully Flynn represented NCIS in the 15 Years & Under team and Evie Martin, Lucy Johnson, Mykenzie Smith, Natalie Townley and Ruby Flanders in the NCIS Opens team.
This day always presents a wonderful challenge and growth opportunity as our student athletes take on the best of the best in netball. The girls battled valiantly throughout the day building some wonderful combinations and great passages of play with the Opens securing a win against RAS. The purpose of this carnival is to select a CIS Team for 15 Years & Under and Opens. Out of the 6 regions competing, Evie Martin was the only student outside AICES, ISA and IGSA to be selected for possibles and probables. She put in an excellent performance in the possible and probable trials, just missing out on the NSWCIS team and gaining selection as a first reserve for the Opens NSWCIS Team. A wonderful recognition for not only her ability and potential in our sport but reward for a huge amount of hard work.
Congratulations to all students for their resilience, excellent sportsmanship and effort on their day. Congratulations must also go to Meegan Bruggerman who coached the NCIS Opens Team, acted as a CIS Selector and will also be coaching the Opens NSWCIS team at the NSW All Schools Netball Tri-Series later in September.
