I thank my God for you every time I think of you; and every time I pray for you all, I pray with joy because of the way in which you have helped me. — Philippians 1:3-5a
Farewell Kristy Hart
Last week our BDC students and staff farewelled a very special and valued staff member, Ms Kristy Hart. Kristy has worked tirelessly over the last five years in support of our First Nations students, teaching Gumbaynggirr language, culture and connection to country, leading our College's reconciliation journey, and as part of the LRC team of staff. Kristy will be deeply missed and we pray blessings for her future endeavours. Ngiina nyaagu gangaagirr diiragarri. Yaarri yarraang Kristy!
Get your hotplates ready, pancakes are coming!
Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Tuesday), which is also known by the blunt description of Fat Tuesday or, in French, Mardi Gras, is on 1st March, marking the day before Lent begins and connecting back to the ancient tradition of feasting as a way of using up all the indulgent ingredients in the pantry before the Lenten fast began. Pancakes will be served to students on this day, with more information to come.
We will gather as a school community the following day on 2nd March at 9am for the Ash Wednesday service to mark the beginning of Lent. We will be joined by our bishop of Grafton, The Right Reverend Dr Murray Harvey who will use this occasion to commission Rev Nicole Hagon in her role as Chaplain at BDC.
