Skillsroad Careers Presentation at BDC

Years 9 and 10 attended a Skillsroad presentation at BDC last week. Students were introduced to the Skillsroad website, link here, a great free resource that they can use to do an individual career quiz and to research different jobs of interest. Students got some great tips on personal branding, resume tips and how to nail or fail an interview. 

Careers@Lunchtime - Creative Careers in Film and TV

We were fortunate to have Suzanne Ryan founder, CEO and Executive Producer of SLR Productions visit our school last week for a Careers@Lunchtime session. SLR  is one of Australia’s leading Emmy and multi award winning kids and family entertainment companies, specialising in world class content, consumer products and market driven brands. With hundreds of hours of highly rated programming seen in 160 countries worldwide, key brands include Space Nova; Alice-Miranda Movies; Guess How Much I Love You; The Skinner Boys – Guardians of the Lost Secrets; Lexi & Lottie: Trusty Twin Detectives; Captain Flinn and The Pirate Dinosaurs; Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures; and I Got a Rocket.

VET Superstars 

Term 1 has been a busy time for our clever students who have chosen a VET course as a senior HSC subject. 7 students are currently studying external VET courses at TAFE. 25 students are undertaking our fabulous VET courses of Cert III in Business, Cert II in Construction Pathways and Cert II in Cookery and took part in a VET induction session where they learned that successfully completing their VET course will see them graduate Year 12 with a nationally recognised qualification!
